Setting Goals in Small Steps

Setting goals can be a challenge to many people and often is done in a way that guarantees failure. It is better to set goals in small steps, for example if you want to set a final goal of moving closer to family you need to consider the steps you would have to take in order to reach that goal.

If I were to have the goal of moving closer to family I would start by looking for a place of employment in the area. Once I had several leads and the possibility of landing an opportunity that could support my family I would then set a goal of selling my house. The whole idea is to set goals which will lead to your main goal. If you simply set a goal of moving closer to family and do not have the baby step goals defined you will find yourself months from now still trying to determine how on earth you are going to reach your main goal.

The third step in moving closer to family would be to find a house in the area you want to move to, then to accept the job and finally move. If you you do this, divide your goal up into reasonable smaller goals you will not be overwhelmed with the main goal and will become more and more excited as you are able to mark each baby goal off of your list.
