My worst interview was no interview

by Pauletta
(Willoughby, Ohio USA)

I have over 3 years experience as a dental office receptionist. I saw an ad in the newspaper for a dental receptionist less than 5 minutes from my house. I called the office and answered a few questions--How much experience do you have? What were your responsibilities? Why did you leave the last dentist office? And most important, can I start immediately?

I was told I was the "perfect fit" and to come in, fill in an application and we would have an interview and discuss wages and benefits. I arrived 10 minutes early, dressed in business attire and was handed an application. A woman came out, told me she was the office manager and when I stood to shake her hand, she abruptly turned and walked away. When I handed the completed application to the receptionist, she asked me to be seated. I sat there for 20 minutes and finally was told that the manager was busy and would call me later. I never got a call and have no idea what I did wrong, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I'm letting everyone know the name of that dental office and how I was treated there.
