It Pays to be Persistent When Job Searching

by Charlene

Upon moving to Florida I wanted to get a job in a physicians office. The largest corporation there had many out-patient offices, and you were required to get hired at the corporate office as a "temp" at first. They would then send you out to one of their physician's offices who needed help, and they would hire you on if the situation worked out.

The HR person was extremely slow about processing my information. I found out she was going on a weeks vacation by my persistent calling on the status of my application. I went in to the corporate office to find out who was covering, and after waiting for three weeks, her subordinate put me to work that week.

I was hired on full-time by the office I went to and worked for them for 7 years.

It pays to be persistent. A lot of times the receptionist can give you invaluable information.
