Be Realistic When Setting Goals

by Hannah
(DeLand, FL, U.S.)

The best advice I have when setting goals is to be realistic. Know yourself and be comfortable with the goals you set.

Do not set goals that are unattainable it will not help you in the end.

Separate the importance of certain goals so that you have a clear idea of what you want.

Set a time limit on yourself so that it is important to have the goal accomplished by this date.

It is easier to accomplish smaller goals first and then work on the bigger goals. This also makes you feel better about being on your way and you will commit.

A great way to know exactly what you want is to write it down. Think about what the main goal is and then think of what smaller goals will get you your ultimate destination. You can make a chart of the steps you need to take to achieve your goal and track your progress.

Make sure to stay positive throughout the process. Sometimes it takes a couple tries. You learn more about yourself and what you really want as time goes by.

Always remember to stay on task. People and opportunities may drag you away. And this causes you to work harder then before. I always planned on getting my forensics degree but I dedicated myself to working instead of studying because I thought I'd rather be making money now.
