Applying for Manager

by Rebecca
(White Hills, AZ USA)

Over the years I have been to many job interviews. They were all the same except for one. There was an opening for a manager at a video store. I had been a manager at a video store before and since I had just moved into town I thought I would give it a try.

The interview was being conducted by the district manager. I was a little nervous at first, but he was a very nice guy and I soon relaxed. He asked me the usual questions. Where had I worked before. What was my experience. What hours and days was I willing to work, etc. We talked for a bit and then he said they would be giving me a call. At that, I thought I had lost the chance to be hired.

To my surprise he did call me a few days later and asked if I would come in for a second interview. This time when I showed up there was another district manager there and I spoke with him and the other manager that I had spoke with the last time. They asked me to step out into the store so that they could talk and then they would come and tell me if I got the job or not. After about ten minutes they called me back in.

I was informed that I got the job, but before I started I would have to take a drug test. I have had to take drug tests before and was waiting for them to tell me where the place was that I would take the test at. Instead, one of the managers got up, picked up a pair of scissors and walked behind me and cut off some of my hair. I don't mean just a few strands either. I mean a chunk of hair, all the way to the scalp and right on top of my head. I was shocked to say the least, but I didn't say anything because I wanted the job. And that was the most unusual job interview I ever had.
